# Verify Recovery and Business Continuity Readiness

> Prove backup integrity, replication health, restore paths, and failover capacity with active probes and continuous coverage verification across dependencies.

Recovery and continuity plans fail when they are only exercised on paper. Panaptico verifies backup evidence, replication health, restore-path readiness, and failover capacity with active probes and continuous coverage checks so you know your critical capabilities will survive an incident.

## The problem

Backup jobs report success but restores are never tested. Replication lag grows silently. Failover runbooks are out of date. Dependencies that support a critical capability are partially inventoried, so a restore plan misses the identity provider, the network path, or the certificate store it depends on. When catastrophe strikes, the gap between the plan and reality is discovered too late.

## How Panaptico approaches it

Panaptico applies continuous verification to every layer of recovery readiness:

* **Probes** actively attempt restore operations, failovers, and sign-in paths on a cadence you define. A probe that fails is a scored gap with an owner. A probe that is missing is itself an alarm. Negative verification confirms that unauthorized paths remain blocked.
* **Coverage** keeps every expected backup, replica, and dependency accounted for. Unobserved resources are flagged, not silently skipped. The Atlas maps the full dependency chain supporting each business-critical capability, including ghosts nobody inventoried.
* **Sequence** verifies that recovery processes actually happen in order: backup completes, replication confirms, failover triggers, service restores. Missing steps in the chain are surfaced immediately.
* **State and Reconciliation** compare live recovery infrastructure against declared targets. A replica that is behind, a backup that expired, or a failover node that is misconfigured becomes a scored gap with full history.

Signals turn raw backup telemetry, replication metrics, and probe results into business meaning ("stale replica", "untested restore") with decay and drift history. Enriched Signals compose these into entity-level judgment so you know which risks threaten continuity now.

## What you get

A continuously updated recovery readiness score for every critical capability. Platform engineers and SREs see which probes are failing and which dependencies are unobserved. Executives see initiative scores for continuity programs. Auditors see scope, coverage, freshness, and inspectable evidence.
